BorderScout is a fully managed anti-virus and spam filtering service that scans incoming and outgoing email before it arrives at a mail box. Affordable and easy to use, BorderScout significantly reduces the amount of spam or viruses you may receive.

The service also provides additional functionality, such as the web management interface, the quarantine, and storage of user preferences. The main difference between BorderScout and other Internet-based solutions is that is can be used in conjuction with individual POP3 mailboxes, rather than the usual SMTP feed to a customer mail server.
Signature-based scanners, by their nature, do not filter all viruses. BorderScout uses multiple signature-based scanners as well as comprehensive heuristic techniques to provide increased protection against the threat of viruses.
BorderScout uses a multi-layered approach to spam filtering, using a combination of techniques, including user defined black and white lists, mail volume based filters and DNS black lists. Any email suspected of being spam is tagged, placed in quarantine, or simply discarded. A high degree of 'configurability' is delegated to the user, allowing individual filters to be set.
