This can be mitigated in a number of ways, through the use of more efficient hardware, by making better use of that hardware with virtualisation technology and by building more efficient data centres, with better temperature control.

Our datacentres are equipped in order to provide us with the increased network power to meet our clients' present and future needs for managed connectivity, hosting and applications. Pre-installed inter-rack cabling allows front and back end ethernet links, backup network links and management and monitoring options. Claranet also implements the most rigorous security precautions, both in the network and physically at the datacentre.

In one of our main datacentres in London we have increased the rack depth to 1000mm, allowing for future developments in hardware technology. Server racks are supplied with two N+1 power supplies and fully redundant network architecture, thereby eliminating single points of failure. This incorporates redundant access routers and switches for customer connections and fully redundant and diverse fibres into the building,
