Despite offering the latest MPLS-based IP VPN technology, Claranet also has many years experience in providing and supporting traditional IPSec-based VPN solutions across public Internet links.

Claranet can either provide just managed Internet connectivity over which the customer runs their own IPSec tunnels, or a fully-managed IPSec solution based upon Netscreen and Cisco hardware.

IPSec connections offer the benefit of almost ubiquitous connectivity. As well as being a viable solution in their own right, they can also be used for a hybrid VPN solution where MPLS is employed in the core but IPSec is used for the more geographically remote sites.
