One public sector customer approached Claranet to enable its employees to work from home securely, with a scaleable solution which would meet its ever-increasing network demands. Increasingly, workers were being encouraged to work from home, connecting to the office through their personal Internet connection.

Outsourcing this project to Claranet was imperative, as the customer’s IT staff were constantly troubleshooting general problems and trying to prevent downtime. Using a number of separate providers was causing administrative problems, and the service was struggling to operate under its own usage, creating security issues.

Claranet’s experts looked at the limitations of the existing system and consulted with the customer at length before recommending a custom-designed solution.

Claranet recommended a tailored, Wide Area Network (WAN) solution across various sites utilising Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology. A MPLS Virtual Private Network (VPN) would enable users to connect remotely and securely. This solution would solve the customer’s current problems and was unparalleled in its scalability and flexibility.

The solution enabled workers to email and connect to the Internet and internal networks. It also retained all the data on Claranet’s secure infrastructure, which is monitored by a dedicated datacentre management team.

Since its introduction, Claranet’s VPN:ng and Home Worker Solution has prevented downtime, saved money and improved worker productivity.
