You can find your website at www.<yourusername>.clara.net or www.home.clara.net/<yourusername>.
The easiest way is to download a free FTP program. There are many FTP clients that you can download for free from the Internet, and we have made guides for the most popular FTP clients here. Please use home.clara.net as your host address, as well as your usual username and password.
Your homepage must be named either index.htm or index.html (no capital letters), as this is the file our servers will look for when someone visits your site. If you web page is correctly named, and you still cannot see your files, you should check that you have uploaded your files with the correct file permissions set. Please make sure that everyone has "read" access to your files. If you are unsure how to do this, please refer to the help file of your FTP client to find out how to change the permissions of a file.
This varies from account to account, but most of our dial-up and broadband accounts come with 25-50MB web space, and our free trial dial-up accounts come with 10MB web space. Please contact us if you require further clarification.
We have written a script that allows you to include a hit-counter on your web page, so that you and your visitors know how popular your website is. You can also add a guestbook, and a "form mail" page, that allows people to e-mail you directly. Please click here for a guide to these scripts.
Most Internet search engines add web pages, and rank how highly they should appear in search queries, based on how many other websites link to it. So, if no-one links to your website, there is a chance that your website will not be found by any search engine. Similarly, if your web page has many people linking to it, there is a good chance that it will be the first hit in many different Internet searches.
Please be sure that you are using home.clara.net as the hostname, along with the correct username and password. Please also note that everything should be written in lower case, unless your password contains capital letters.
