Connecting Using Windows 2000 - Dialup
The Internet Connection Wizard in Microsoft Windows provides a quick and simple way for your computer to connect to Claranet. The following is an easy guide to setting up a dial up connection in Windows 2000.
1) First click on the start menu and then select Run.
2) Type in inetwiz and click on Ok. At the next screen (shown below) select "Connect using my phone line" and click on Next to proceed.
Please note: on the next screen you may be prompted to select your modem from a drop down menu before the screen displayed in step 3, please select your modem from the list and click on Next to proceed to step 3.
3) In this box please make sure to un-check "Use area code and dialing rules". You do not need to enter the area code so leave it blank. Now enter the corresponding telephone access number to dial your Claranet account in the "Telephone number" box and then click on Next. To minimise the possibility of any future connection problems, we recommend you enter the access number without using spaces.
Claranet Access Numbers
Here are the access numbers you need to complete step 3
Please note: If you are required to dial a specific number to obtain an outside line; for example you are in an office using a switchboard and the number to dial out is 9, then please add that number in front of the Clara.Net dial up access number. It would look something like this: 908451264000.
If you are calling from a withheld number (ex-directory) please add 1470 before the access number; e.g. 147008451264000
Pay As You Go
The pay as you go dial up numbers are charged at local rate by your telephone service provider. All the numbers provide the same service so there is no real preference.

4) Enter the user name and password for your account. Both of these need to be in the case you specified when creating the account. Click on Next to continue.
5) In this box, type in a name for your connection that will allow you to identify it, for example: "Claranet". Click on Next to proceed.
6) The final step will ask if you wish to create an email account. Select No to this option and click on Next to proceed.
If you select yes, another wizard will launch prompting you to create an email account. For further information on setting up your email account please refer to our setup guides on email.
7) Click on Finish to complete the setup. You should now be able to connect to Claranet.
Connecting to Dial Up
When you attempt to connect to the dial up service, you should get the following screen. Click on Dial to connect.
