Using Mozilla Firefox

Mozilla Firefox is an alternative to Microsoft Internet Explorer. It has advanced browsing features such as tabbed browsing. The following guide gives you some information on how to use Mozilla Firefox. To customize your Firefox settings click on the Tools menu and then Options.

In the section shown below you will see six main buttons, the first being General. Here you can set your homepage. The homepage is the webpage that will appear when you open Mozilla Firefox or click the "home" button on the toolbar at the top of the browser window.

If you click on the Privacy icon and then the History tab, you should see the settings for your history folder which contains all the pages you have recently visited. Here, you can change the number of days to keep pages in the history. You can also access the history list by clicking on the View menu, selecting Sidebar and then History above the Firefox toolbar. You will notice that there are folders for every day.

Temp Files Cache

If you select the Cache tab you can delete the temporary Internet files that are cached to save disk space. To do so simply click on the "Clear Cache Now" button.

You can also edit the settings for the space allocated for the cache. The webpages are copied to the cache so that if you open them again, they will be displayed more quickly rather than having to download them again.

Deleting Temporary Files

1) To delete temporary files including the cache history etc click on Tools and then "Clear Private Data".

2) Select the cached folders you wish to clear, then click on "Clear Private Data Now" to complete deleting the temporary files.

Importing and Exporting Favourites

1) You can store your favourite web addresses in Firefox to save you having to type them in everytime you're online. You can export your favourites list to another PC or browser by clicking on Bookmarks then Manage Bookmarks.

2) You will see the screen shown below. Click on File and select Export.

3) Now select the directory you wish to save the bookmarks file to and click
on Save to complete exporting your favorties.

4) To Import just follow the wizard again and choose Import instead of Export.
